IMPACT AND ACHIEVEMENTS.
POVERTY REDUCTION:
Abia North Industrial Development Initiative has organized some micro and small business enterprises into business clusters for easy sourcing of credit facility and lease equipment to expand and increase production. Some shoe makers, leather and allied products in Aba, the commercial city of Abia State have been assisted in sourcing equipment and loans from micro finance banks. These have enabled them to increase production in shoes and handbags including various leather allied products. Their production capacity have increased by more than thirty percent (30%), thus creating more jobs.
Those in the tailoring/garment industry have also been assisted to increase their production through these means.
Our “HTC”, hawking to classroom programme is now yielding positive results. We have taken forty three (43) children, who are between the ages of nine (9) and fifteen (15) yrs. off the street, to the school. These children have been doing street trading or hawking. The scheme is designed to give basic education and draft the children into various types of trade and vocation and empower them.
WOMEN RIGHT ISSUES:
Our organization makes advocacy on women’s right and empowerment. In Abia State, we advocate for women’s right against traditional and cultural harmful practices. There are some villages and local government areas in Abia State where, when a man dies, members of his extended family will drive away his wife and children and then take over his properties. We advocate for the eradication of this obnoxious cultural practice and allow women to take possession of their spouse properties when the man is no more. We also support, that women should be allowed to buy lands, build houses and own any type of property they may wish to have. We have also grouped women into various types of trade and vocation, such as tailoring, fashion designing, hair dressing, beauty saloon and computer literacy training, to make them self reliant. Seventeen , (17) women have benefited to date.
FAMILY HEALTH:
Our family health program is essentially to give good medical support in order to significantly increase the life expectancy and quality of life to Nigerians. The health services include reproductive health, maternal, neonatal and child health, sound nutrition, and improved infant feeding. Attending to Elderly and Adolescent are also part of the health issues we handle through active community participation. We are collaborating with Vitamin Angels of United States Of America, a donor partner in the distribution of nutritional supplements to children under the age of five (5) yrs, in the hard to reach communities. Our aim is to reduce maternal, neonatal, infant and child morbidity and mortality.

The community based adult learning center which is intended to institutionalized alternative learning for development at grass-root levels in an effort to enhance capacity of local communities to address proactively the social.
